Functions and Features of Idler Pulley
An idler pulley is used to guide or alter the routing of the belt and acts as a fixed pulley; it does not provide any tensioning function. Its primary roles are to optimize the engine’s rubber belt path, maintain belt alignment, and prevent belt slippage. Typically, idler pulleys are installed on the belt’s return section or at bends to change belt direction or prevent belt derailment.
When replacing an idler pulley, it is important to ensure the bearing matches the original specifications. The bearing must meet OEM standards to guarantee rotational accuracy and reliability.
Please ensure the product OEM number matches exactly. Follow the OEM drawings or instructions to align the mounting holes. Tighten bolts to the specified torque, pay attention to the spring orientation, and the positional relationship between the belt and pulleys. Make sure the pulley is properly aligned without any tilt.
It is recommended to replace the belt together with the tensioner to avoid the old belt affecting the tensioner’s performance.
After installation, check whether the belt is aligned, listen for any abnormal noises during operation, and confirm that the pulley rotates smoothly.
