- The last number indicates the effective length of the PK belt (unit: mm). For example, “796” represents a length of 796 mm.
Here is an example: “3PK796” indicates that this is a poly v serpentine belt with 3 ribs and a length of 796 mm.
PK belt measurement method:
- PK number on the belt: Simply read the PK number on the belt. This is the most direct and accurate method. Learn how to read the PK number on the belt will help you quickly and accurately select the PK belt that is right for your vehicle.
- When there is no PK number or the number is worn:
We recommend that you first consult your vehicle manual or a professional.
(1)Measure the length of the PK belt: Use a cloth tape measure to measure the outer circumference of the PK belt, ensuring that the belt is naturally straight, without stretching or slack. Do not use a straight ruler to measure the length of the PK belt, as this will result in an inaccurate measurement.
(2)Measure the width and number of ribs of the PK belt:- Number of ribs: Count the number of ribs directly on the belt (protruding ribs). This number is the number before the PK number. For example, “6PK” means 6 ribs.
- Width: Method one is to measure the total width of the belt using a caliper or ruler. Method two is to calculate based on the standard pitch. For the PK belt, the standard pitch for each rib is 3.56 mm, and the total width = number of ribs × 3.56 mm. For example, the theoretical width of a 6PK belt is 6 × 3.56 = 21.36 mm. Actual measurement values may vary slightly, so use the theoretical value as a reference.

In engine applications, we recommend that you choose EPDM PK belt as your first choice for the following reasons:
NR: Used for engine accessories that require high wear resistance and flexibility, and are not exposed to high temperatures or frequent contact with oil. NR PK belt has good elasticity and wear resistance, but its heat and oil resistance are average.
CR: Used in applications requiring heat resistance, oil resistance, and ageing resistance, it can operate stably within a common temperature range and is suitable for most conventional engine environments. CR PK belt offers balanced performance, good weather resistance, and flame retardancy.
EPDM: Used in high-temperature, strong ultraviolet light, ozone, and chemical corrosion environments, commonly used in modern engine compartments with high temperature and long service life requirements. EPDM PK belts are heat-resistant, age-resistant, ozone-resistant, wear-resistant, and have a long service life.
When you choose a PK belt, it is recommended that you consider the specific conditions of the engine (temperature, service life requirements, etc.) before making your choice. All three materials can meet the basic requirements of your engine PK belt, but each has its strengths.
